To Love, Honor and Be Recognized

For the past five years, gay and lesbian couples have been affirming their love with a mass wedding ceremony as part of the events leading to the annual Motor City Pride Celebration in downtown Ferndale. This year, the ceremony, which joins couples in "holy union" rather than legal "marriage," will take place on Saturday, June 6 on the steps of Ferndale City Hall. Read more

Hotter Than July '09 kicks off with annual march

About 40 people took to the streets near Palmer Park Saturday, July 18 for the 10th annual Ruth Ellis Pride March. The event, which winds along Merrill Plaisance Street from Woodward Avenue to the swimming pool area, where the Pride picnic takes place, is the first event of the annual Hotter Than July celebration, Detroit's black gay pride.
