Virginia Family Foundation Protests Gay Marriage With Fake Fast

BTL Staff

VIRGINIA - An anti-gay group announced that it will fast for 40 days between Aug. 27 and Oct 5 to combat same-sex marriage.

The Virginia Family Foundation has coordinated a fast to influence SCOTUS into rejecting same-sex marriage when it hears the first of a series of appeals. But after announcing the fast the group released a statement that clarified that members don't have to actually give up any food to take part in the fast.

They wrote "We are asking the entire Body of Christ to join us for this fast - giving up physical food isn't necessary - but feeding on the spiritual food provided is vital."

The challenge begins today and the group released an introductory "fast" video claiming that God would want people to be holy by opposing same-sex marriage.

"Jesus has issued a trumpet call and declared a holy fast to gather his people together for a time of consecration, to purify our way of thinking and cleanse our way of living," the group said.

But now the nation has to wonder if this group isn't actually advocating for same-sex marriage. If they can redefine "fast" so easily, then adding LGBT to the definition of marriage should be just as simple, right?
